Are you living on the edge of your seat or have you kicked your feet up and gotten comfortable, just going through the motions of everyday life?
I have to pray every single day that God will use me where I’m at and look at all situations, as an opportunity to glorify God and point others to Christ.
The jaded spirit is real and can be an every day battle if you’re not careful.
The good news is, the Holy Spirit lives inside of us and can help us with that. It’s a daily surrender and we have to ask for help.
If we dare to call Him Lord, our only position is servant. Matthew 5:16 says “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Two weeks ago I drove 5 hours across Missouri, to a revival that my friend was having at his farm.
It was such an amazing experience. I got back to my hotel around midnight and fell asleep fast.
The next morning I woke up early and hit the road. I was still fired up from the night before and figured the devil wasn’t very happy.
I was a few miles outside of town on the four lane and my low tire pressure warning popped up.
About that same time, my friend from Tennessee called me. He’d driven out for the revival and was checking in to see how my morning was going. I watched my tire pressure continue to drop rapidly.
I was praying that God would allow me to make it to Walmart to get it fixed, as it was raining and not the best weather.
I pulled into Walmart and it was down to 10 psi. As I got out of my truck it went completely flat.
I’d been talking to my friend this whole time as I was driving and the last thing He said to me hit me like a ton of bricks.
God was speaking right through him. He reminded me that God can still use this situation for the good.
I think about this often and he said that maybe there’s a reason for the flat tire and going to Walmart.
It could be a simple conversation with a stranger or a changed life because of where God put me.
We’ve had many conversations about this in the past. I was so caught up in praying about making it safely to my destination that it had slipped my mind until he called.
I ended up having a very sharp rock stuck in the tire and they were able to fix it, but it took several hours to get me in.
So I began praying that the Holy Spirit would guide me as I walked around the store and open a door for a conversion.
I walked around for about an hour and wasn’t feeling anything.
I was talking to God and enjoying my time, when out of nowhere I heard someone playing Christian music on their phone pretty loud.
It was the song “Up and Up” by Colton Dixon which was so fitting for the current circumstances.
No one else was in this area and I waited a little bit before I went and talked to them. It was an older gentleman and his wife.
He was even wearing a shirt with a cross on it. I asked God to speak through me and guide my steps.
Told him I really enjoyed the song and then about the revival I went to the night before. I don’t believe in coincidences anymore, the only explanation for these experiences are God.
I had chills and felt so strongly that God had opened that door. I was able to share testimony about the flat tire and what God had told me that morning.
I won’t share anymore details about what took place, but it was such a powerful experience and a great reminder that we always need to have an open heart and let God work.
We never know the impact God can have through us when we allow him to move.
I may never see those people again, but I felt led to pray for them on the way home later that day.
I ended up spending 4 hours at some random Walmart in western Missouri and God showed me that He has a plan and purpose for every little detail of our lives. That’s what living in the spirit is all about.
It’s for his Glory and helping others. He also grows my faith and trust in Him during that process. In the end the sidewall of my tire was ruined and just put the spare on. But God gave me so much and peace and joy through my delayed trip home.
Trials and tribulations are a given in this life, but God promises to always be there and can give us a peace and joy through it all. It may even lead to a testimony that gives someone else hope, down the road.
1 Peter 4:10-11 says “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God; if anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.
To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”
I have a very simple mentality in all areas of my life. I’ve never been one to kick down a door. I don’t really need to.
I say “God if you open a door, I’ll walk through it and give you everything I have.” God continues to open doors to tell people about Jesus and be an example.
If He keeps opening doors, using farming and every day life in that way, I’m honored and will continue to, until the day I die.
God has a way of pruning us through all situations and I’d encourage you to start asking God to use you every single day, no matter what you’re doing.
As we go about our daily lives, it’s easy to get caught up in routine and forget that the Holy Spirit is always present, guiding us, speaking to us and giving us the strength to be faithful in every situation.
When we choose to live with open hearts and minds, God can turn even the most mundane moments into opportunities to serve Him.
It may not always be easy, but trusting in His timing and direction allows us to see the beauty in the ordinary. Always ask ourselves “How can God use me today?”
Whether it’s a flat tire, a simple conversation or an unexpected detour, every moment is a chance to glorify God and help others encounter His love.
Stay faithful, stay aware and be ready to walk through whatever doors He opens, knowing that He’s always at work, even in the most unexpected places!
