The La Harpe City Council met July 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the La Harpe Clubhouse.
Present was Mayor Katherine Hasten-Reed, City Clerk Lucretia McPeak, and Aldermen Todd Stevens, Jim Lenix, Randy Shumaker, Dave Clover, and Marvin Miller. Also present was city employees David Little and Daniel Carpenter and guests, Dustin Detherage, Chad Burt, Jeff McDowell, Josh Statler, Dan Gillett, and Michael Rodeffer. Tim and Monalisa Graves were on vacation.
The council held a zoom meeting, via phone, with a solar project representative to discuss any questions the council might have about the solar project, on city farm ground.
It was noted if a lease agreement was approved it would be 3-4 years before construction would begin. Framing for the project would mostly be steel posts with minimal concrete used.
A decommissioning bond was discussed which would be a sizable bond to replace the ground back to its original state. 40-50 acres was the normal acreage to be used although, it could be more or less. The project would be fenced around it. Council took no action at this time.
Council approved the June minutes and accepted the treasurer’s report and approved paying of bills.
Council also approved paying a bill from Central Stone for $265.84 for gravel to be paid from Motor Fuel Tax Fund.
Todd Stevens noted there was some trees down after the last storm at the cemetery. Stevens had talked to city crews if they would be able to clean them up.
Randy Shumaker stated there was a recall on the Ford squad car and the police department was getting quotes for cameras and laptop.
Mayor Hasten-Reed noted the city attorney had made the changes to the non-highway vehicle ordinance and wanted everyone to look it over. It will be on the next meeting’s agenda, July 28th.
Jim Lenix noted the reservoir had been treated with copper sulfate as of May 1st, but had not been treated again.
Council adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
