October’s board meeting for Gladstone, was held Monday, October 13 with Mayor Randy Goble, Trustees Valerie Goff, Brett Dewitt, Darlene Manes, and Clerk Deb Palmer in attendance.
Absent were three trustees of Jeremiah Bielser, Debbie and Mike Blake.
Acceptance of previous month’s minutes, treasurer’s report, and bills were unanimous.
Tree issues are to be checked out by Bob Cravens which are located near 101 Liberty and another on Locust Street.
Cravens also to contact Independent Heating and Cooling, Monmouth for upcoming winter inspection and service on Community Building furnace.
Cravens, Water Department head, reported that the generator at the well site was getting mowed grass on which will result in rust and also that the area had weeds.
Cravens also reported of a storm drain issue behind the alley at the VFW has sunk in and needs filled. Unanimous vote to hire Kurt McChesney to haul rock for $75 plus the rock cost.
Unanimously approved to hire Layne Stodgill to replace sidewalks at Sycamore/Warren and at East Walnut. One is ten by four feet and the other is 12 by four feet. Cost is $1600 which includes leveling ground to cleaning up all debris.
It was reported the blocking of alley near Warren/Walnut Streets where a mobile home is being torn down.
Cravens has ordered the street signs for Liberty/Sycamore at the cost of $78.71.
It was decided to take the old office Desktop computer to the Henderson County Health Dept. for disposal.
Mayor Goble will attend the upcoming Multi-jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan for Henderson County.
Mayor Goble and Clerk Palmer recently met with the new auditor. Board members indicated were not in favor of direct deposit of their monthly pay.
Water tower inspection will be done on Thursday which is done every five years.
Orkin extermination will be contacted due to flying insects noticed during the board meeting. Orkin had recently serviced the Community Building early September.
