Stronghurst Village Board Meeting

By: Shirley Linder, Executive Editor

The Village of Stronghurst held their monthly meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2.

The meeting was opened by Mayor Brendan Schaley leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes and paying of the bills was approved, as well as the financial statement of $60,561 on the plus side.

Dennis Day reported the street that comes off 94 in front of his house is breaking off and a ditch of about 6” has formed. Mayor Schaley said the village would look into it. Ronnie Gittings reported the well has been pumping 82 gallon per minute and is now up to 88 gallon. They are now hauling water only two days a week, on the days they back wash.

He also reported the streets would be chipped on Thursday, September 4th.

Gittings has received complaints of roosters now being in town down in his area.

Doug Erickson of Benton & Associates reported the water test results look good so far and they are working toward getting the permit.

Once they receive the permit, electricity can be installed and they can haul from the site. He is also working on titles so the pipe may be laid. A meeting with Benton & Associates was scheduled for September 16th, at 6:00 p.m.

Gittings reported he had checked the new well and it was pumping up to 140 gallon per minute but they had to shut it off because the pump was shaking. He estimates the new well will pump approximately 160-180 gallon per minute.

Mayor Schaley said he had received a notice the police savings account needs attention so as not to lose the money and he would like to put it in a CD. On a motion by Mike Bohnenkamp, seconded by Janice Smith it was approved that he can do this.

The meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
