Historic Home Damaged in Stronghurst Fire

The home of Mike and Patty Muhleman, on the northeast corner of 5th Avenue and Route 94 in Stronghurst, caught fire Monday morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial reports seem to suggest an electrical issue.

Responding to the blaze was MST, Raritan, Gladstone, Biggsville, and Oquawka fire departments, as well as the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported, but unfortunately, two of the family’s cats are unaccounted for.

The house was originally built by Delbert Dixson, the son of Joseph and Mary Dixson. The home was later purchased by Ivan Jacobs before being sold to the Muhleman family.
