Meet Your Neighbor

Laura Wilhite, The Quill

Meet your neighbor Brian Mehaffy. Brian spent the early years of his life in La Harpe, Illinois, before moving to Burlington, Iowa.

A 2003 graduate of Burlington Community High School, Brian went on to earn an Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology from Southeastern Community College in West Burlington in 2005.

He is the oldest of three siblings, a younger brother, Mitchell Mehaffy, and a sister, Hayley Lindquist.

Brian married his wife Kasey on May 26, 2023. They met through Brian’s late wife, Amanda, who had been friends and real estate coworkers with Kasey.

Together, Brian and Kasey share a blended family of three children. Jackson Livingston is currently serving in the U.S. Navy, Analeigh Livingston is a high school junior active in dance, and Coen Mehaffy is a spirited second grader who enjoys video games and is currently playing flag football.

Although it’s rare for the whole family to be together at once, they cherish their time traveling, making memories, or simply relaxing at home with their dogs and a good movie.

Brian works as an automotive technician at Carson Ford in Carthage, Illinois. Many in the community recognize him from his role running the Illinois DOT test lane at the dealership.

Balancing tasks can be a juggling act, but Brian enjoys the personal connections he makes with customers—whether it’s a meaningful conversation or a quick chat about the weather.

The Mehaffy family attends Union Church in La Harpe, where they are active members.

When it comes to hobbies, Brian is passionate about anything fast and loud—cars, motorcycles, airplanes, and more.

He enjoys flying remote control airplanes with the Macomb RC Flyers at Lake Argyle. He’s also a rock music fan and makes time for live concerts whenever he can.
