Lia Elizabeth: “The Kind of Thankful We Sometimes Forget”

In a world that moves faster than any of us can keep up with, it’s easy to let Thanksgiving slip into just another holiday.

It can turn into just another meal, another busy week, another to-do list. But when we slow down long enough to look around, really look around, we can’t help but realize just how blessed we are.

Sometimes we forget how lucky we are simply to have our health. To wake up, go about our day, and never stop to think what a gift it is to breathe easily or walk without any pain.

Not everyone gets to experience those simple, everyday miracles and it’s worth a moment of real gratitude.

And then there’s the gift of family. God has blessed me immensely with family far and near which I was lucky enough to see this past Thanksgiving.

But family just doesn’t have to be blood. It can be neighbors who check on you, or friends who have been with you through some of the toughest times.

But we can all be grateful to be surrounded by people who care deeply for us, and that is something many only dream of.

Let’s not forget the blessing of a warm home. When the wind turns cold and the nights get long, having a place to come home to, a place filled with warmth, comfort, and familiar things is something we should never take for granted.

A roof overhead is more than a structure, It’s safety. It’s peace.

And above all, Thanksgiving reminds us of Jesus, the One who gives us every good and perfect gift.

The One who meets us in our gratitude and in our struggles.

The One who calls us to give thanks not just on the fourth Thursday of November, but in every season.

His love is the foundation for all the blessings we celebrate.

So I hope this past Thanksgiving, you were able to pause long enough to notice the goodness right in front of you.

This year I thanked Jesus for health, for home, for family, and for the countless everyday mercies I might overlook.

Because when we open our eyes to what we already have, we realize our lives are overflowing with reasons to be truly thankful.
