LaMoine Christian Service Camp had their high school week during the second week of June. There were over 90 campers.
Kevin Oliver reported that it was a God-ordained week if he had ever seen one. They spent the week talking about how their own stories fit into God’s story.
Each morning campers attended classes that involved Bible teaching and a storytelling workshop.
In the afternoon they had recreation time which consisted of structured games as well as free time. Cheri Triplett from the Family Care and Pregnancy center in Rushville talked to the campers about the impact the center has on the community and the work that God is doing in people’s lives.
The campers raised money for the pregnancy center as their mission for the week. In the evening the campers attended chapel.
Worship was led by Jackson Franke and the Burnside Christian Church worship team.
The message was given by Lucas Reynolds who is the Associate Director of Church Services at Central Christian College of the Bible.
They ended each day with a late night activity and a campfire. The campfire is always a lot of the campers highlight from the week.
The Holy Spirit moves while campers worship God around the campfire glow. They are also impacted by the power of the testimonies that are shared by camp leaders.
There were 10 campers that made the decision to get baptized at the end of the week.
Kevin Oliver stated, “this whole week was such an incredible experience for the students to grow closer to each other and God, and we saw that culminate on Wednesday night, when Lucas challenged them to share their story.
“We did a testimony time with the microphone for about the next hour and a half.
“To hear those stories was so heartbreaking, but to hear of how God moved in the lives of our students was one of the most powerful things I have ever witnessed.
“There are so many people around here who know nothing about what the church camp does or that it even exists, and that is a shame.
“What that place does is create space for God to move in the lives of our campers, and in the lives of us adults as well. Each time I drive off that campus, I leave changed, better than I was when I got there.
“So if you have students, send them there for that experience, it can truly be life changing. Jesus transforms our hearts and our minds when we submit to Him. We saw that this week.
“We saw Him move in ways we could never have imagined. I was blessed to be a part of it.
“If you get the chance, please send your kids to camp, you won’t regret it, they won’t regret it, and nothing will ever be the same.”
