Three Generations of Illinois Boys Staters

Three generations of the Gibb family have attended the Illinois Premier Boys State program during the summer prior to their Senior year of High School.

On June 7, 2025 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Cameron Gibb became the third generation of his family to participate in the six-day annual leadership program, sponsored by the American Legion-Illinois Division.

Cameron attends Fountain Hills High School in Fountain Hills, AZ, where he will be a Senior during the next school year. He attended West Central Grade School through the Second Grade before his family moved to Arizona.

Both his Father and Grandfather attended the Illinois Boy State program in their youth.  Both traveled to EIU with Cameron to check him into the program on June 7th.

His Grandfather, Gary Gibb of Media, attended Illinois Premier Boys State in the early 1970’s.  At that time, the program was held in Springfield, IL at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Cameron’s Father, Tony Gibb of Smithshire, attended Illinois Premier Boys State in 1994, which had moved to the EIU Campus in 1975.

Cameron was joined at Boys State by his great uncle, Chuck Neff of Stronghurst, who has served on the Illinois Premier Boys State program staff for 44 years.
