I.O.O.F. HOME-COMING AND FISH FRY: Dec.26th was a big day for the Lilly Lodge No.554 it being the date for their annual Home-coming and fish fry. During the afternoon seven candidates were given the initiatory, first, second and third degrees by the Carman lodge team. The work is said to have been especially fine and Ben Mudd is reported to have declared that he would rather have missed eating fish than to have missed this degree work. A large attendance of the home lodge members besides about 75 visiting brethren from Carman, Lomax, Terre haute and LaHarpe lodges enjoyed a banquet in which fresh fish was expertly cooked. After supper the lodge was re-opened for work which finished about 10 pm. The rest of the evening was devoted to progressive whist which was highly enjoyed by all. The first prize was won by Wm. Ogden while John McGolern was awarded the "booby" prize.
