Lia Elizabeth: “Homecoming Week: Memories We’ll Never Forget”

There’s something about homecoming week in a small town that feels magical.

It’s more than just a football game or a dance, it’s a week where the whole school, and honestly the whole town, comes alive with pride.

We would spend the whole week of school barely paying any attention, because we were buzzing with so much excitement.

For us girls, the fun starts the moment the dress-up days are announced. There’s nothing quite like meeting up with your friends the night before to plan out outfits, laughing as you piece together costumes, or borrowing from each other’s closets.

Whether it’s pajama day, twin day, or spirit day, the halls are filled with color and creativity, and it makes school feel more like a celebration than just another week.

By Friday, the energy is impossible to ignore. The pep rally is one of those traditions that never gets old.

The cheerleaders leading chants, the funny skits from all the classes, the players walking in with their jerseys.

My favorite chant was when we all got to yell our graduation year and see who could be the loudest!

You can feel the pride in the air, the way the whole student body cheers as one, knowing that Friday night lights are only hours away.

And when those lights finally come on, it feels like the whole town is there.

The stands are packed with families, alumni, and students, all under those Friday night lights, and cheering loud and proud.

All the senior girls had on heir decorated capes. Being there with your best friends, face painted and screaming your heart out, is a memory you carry with you long after high school.

Then comes Saturday night, the dance we’ve been waiting for all week.

Getting ready with your friends is half the fun; curling hair, putting on dresses, and taking a million pictures before heading out.

The dance itself is a blur of music, laughter, and spinning under the lights. It’s a night where you can let go, celebrate, and make memories with the people who mean the most to you.

Homecoming week is more than just tradition, but it’s a reminder of what makes small-town life so special. It’s about community, pride, friendship, and the memories we’ll keep long after the last song plays.
