Heat Drop Season Opener

West Central fell to the West Carroll Thunder 42-0 in Biggsville last Friday night.

The Thunder’s stifling defense made it challenging for West Central to execute their new-look offense.

Sophomore running back Graham Kelly had six consecutive carries for no gain or a loss, as the Heat offense struggled to find a rhythm.

The situation worsened after back-to-back drives ended in Thunder interceptions on passes that bounced off Heat receivers.

The Heat defense also struggled to contain Thunder junior running back Aden Buchholz, who carried the ball 15 times for 164 yards and three touchdowns.

The Heat (0-1) will look to bounce back when they hit the road to face the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders (1-0) in Ashton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The Raiders started their season with a victory at West Prairie, 28-18, last Friday.
