The La Harpe City Council monthly meeting was called to order on September 8th at 7 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Those present were Dave Clover, Jeff McDowell, Randy Shumaker, Todd Stevens, Jim Lenix, Treasurer-Monalisa Graves, City Clerk-Lucretia McPeak, and Mayor Katherine Hasten-Reed. Marvin Miller joined the council at 7:37 p.m.
Committee reports
The laptop and printer has been set up at the Police Department. There was a water issue on August 26th, and it was handled immediately and correctly.
Other reports
Tim Graves updated on the sewer plant. He did a walk through with someone from Benton Engineering firm, and they will send someone to the next council meeting with ideas for the sewer plant.
He will be sending a sheet referencing cross connections to all water customer.
Tim Edwards went over arrest and police calls.
The Explorer needs some attention. He asked where it should be taken to have it checked over.
He’ll be in Quincy September 23rd and 24th for training. He has been at the school at least 3 days for the mornings and afternoons.
It will be on the next agenda to discuss and take action on Police Chief driving the Squad car to Oquawka, and to discuss and take action on the Police Department.
The City will check on AR rifles.
The time off request for employees was discussed.
City Clerk McPeak asked the council to appropriate funds from MFT to pay Galesburg Builders Supply $164.90. It was unanimously approved.
Treasurer Graves reported Tonka-$2,160.16 was not on the treasurer’s report.
Mayor Hasten-Reed reported for the Attorney that there needs to be pictures taken for court at the Old Nursing home on B street.
Old Business
August council minutes, treasurer’s report and pay bills unanimously approved.
Unanimously approved advertising for City of La Harpe Street department
Unanimously approved placement of the Girl’s State Champion sign.
In other old business for discussion only:
It will be on the next agenda to discuss and take action to:use Benton Engineering for the sewer project and hire a new Engineering firm.
The mowing list was discussed.
The school speed signs were discussed.
New Business
There was discussion on E bikes on the City roadways. No action needed.
There was discussion on water bill mailing procedures. No action was needed.
Trick or Treat will be on Friday, October 31st from 5-8 p.m., and Trunk or Treat at the City Park at the same date and time.
Unanimously approved to replace the sidewalk on the North side and 1 square of sidewalk on the West side of Dallas Neff residence with a cost to be split half and half with the City, per City policy.
Discussed a conservation survey Clover had gotten at the church.
Clover would like to see documentation of all employee’s gas and odometer readings and backhoe hours.
