Two Lighted Parades Coming to Henderson County!

Stronghurst and Oquawka are both set to host two Lighted Christmas Parades this December, each paired with heartwarming events to support local causes.

On Friday, December 5, the Stronghurst Lighted Parade will start at 6:30 p.m., with line-up at the Henderson County Fairgrounds by 5:30 p.m. Businesses, school clubs, sports teams, and families are all welcome to join with a decorated vehicle, golf cart, or trailer, no entry fee or pre-registration required!

Before the parade, warm up at the Community Senior Citizens Soup Supper beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Stronghurst Senior Citizens Center. Enjoy homemade soup and good company for a free-will donation.

On Saturday, December 6 the Oquawka Lighted Christmas Parade is set to start at 6:00 p.m., with line-up on 8th Street starting at 5:30 p.m.

After the parade, head straight to Museum Park to visit Santa on the stage (or inside the Oquawka Museum if the weather turns bad).

Make the day even brighter by joining these giving events: the Oquawka Toy Drive Soup Supper starts at 4:00 p.m. at Township Hall (324 Schuyler St.) enjoy a hearty meal for a free-will donation.

From 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., drop off new toys or non-perishable food items at the Ambulance Barn for the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department “Stuff the Squad Car” drive.

Both parades promise dazzling lights, festive music, and holiday cheer as they roll through town.

Whether you’re lighting up a float, cheering from the sidewalk, or stopping by for soup and Santa, these events are the perfect way to celebrate the season and give back.
