Lia Elizabeth: “Facing Fear in a Fear-Filled World”

Sometimes I’ll be sitting in my living room after a long day, just flipping through channels or scrolling on my phone, when suddenly the world feels like a pretty scary place.

I’m sure a lot of you can relate. The news blares stories about disasters, violence, or uncertainty. Social media seems to magnify everything that could possibly go wrong.

Before I know it, my heart starts to race, and I find myself worrying about things that are completely out of my control.

It’s amazing how fear can sneak in so quietly and then grow so quickly. One minute, I’m relaxed and enjoying a quiet evening, and the next I’m filled with “what ifs.”

What if something happens to my family? What if the world keeps getting worse? What if I can’t handle what’s coming next?

But then I have to stop and remind myself that God is still in control. No headline or video clip can change that truth.

He tells us in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

It’s easy to let fear take over when we focus on what the world is showing us. But when we shift our focus to what God has promised us, peace starts to take its place.

The truth is, fear feeds on what we can’t control, but faith reminds us Who is in control.

I’ve learned that instead of spending my time getting worked up about things I see online or on TV, I can spend that time in prayer.

When I hand my worries over to God, He replaces them with the kind of peace that only He can give. A peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances, but on trust.

In a world that often tries to make us afraid, we can choose to live differently. We can choose faith over fear.

Because no matter what’s happening on the screen or in the world around us, God’s hand hasn’t slipped. He’s still guiding, still protecting, and still faithful.
