Ryan Wilhite: “Trusting God When Others Don’t Understand.”

Do you struggle with what others think or say about you? I finished corn 2 weeks ago on a Friday and started moving equipment at 2am back to the home place.

When I first got to the field to fuel up before moving, it started raining. The forecast was calling for clear skies over night and was instantly reminded of God’s love and faithfulness. It ended up raining all the way back home.

Pop up showers aren’t unusual, but God was speaking straight to me this morning. My harvest was delayed while waiting on parts again.

With that I felt very strongly God had a greater purpose for it. Probably more than I realize right now as He works all things out for the good.

When it was time to make the decision two weeks ago on which crop to start with, God told me to start on corn.

It was very similar to last year as the soybeans had dried down a lot and this would give God a chance to send some rain and bring that moisture up.

Lower moistures equal lower yields for soybeans. Some people thought I was crazy and said the pods would crack open and there would be nothing left to harvest. They thought I should get the beans done before corn.

God had me cut almost 800 acres of soybeans in December last year and all around 13 percent moisture and good yields. There was nearly no loss at all on the ground.

God reminded me of the same thing two weeks and go and started in on corn. I listened to Him and had to trust that He is in control and had a plan.

Even though I was a month later than when I planned on starting, the corn was under 15.5 percent so there was no drying costs.

Grain prices are even up a little higher than a month ago. We had some high winds in the area recently and one of my fields started leaning as I finished it up, but didn’t cause any problems or yield loss.

The gusts were about 50mph and thats never good this late in the season. The rest was standing strong as I finished up corn.

One of the things I heard God so clearly on was, He’d send rain before it was time to start soybeans after a long dry spell and He did just that this morning and we got more this past week.

I’ve never followed what everyone else is doing or tried to keep up with the neighbors. He tests us and allows us to go through certain circumstances for a purpose. God calls us to stand out and be bold for Him.

It’s so important to surrender everything and let the Holy Spirit guide you. God has grown my relationship with Him so much since I started farming.

There is a much greater purpose behind everything and He is always refining us. He teaches me a lot through farming, but I believe He is preparing me for the future for His glory.

Through every delay, every unexpected change in plans and every step of the way, God has reminded me that His timing is always perfect.

What may look like a setback in the moment is often His way of preparing something greater than we can see.

Farming has taught me more about faith than I ever imagined, trusting when the skies turn dark, believing when the forecast doesn’t match the plan and resting in the truth that He is always faithful.

No matter what others think or say, keep walking in obedience to His voice, because that’s where peace and purpose are found!
