Lia Elizabeth: “When Life Doesn’t Seem Fair”

The other day, I overheard someone say, “Well, life’s just not fair.” I’ve heard that phrase many times, and I’m sure you have too.

It’s one of those sayings people use to shrug off disappointment or explain away hardship. But lately, I’ve been thinking about how dangerous that mindset can be.

There have been times in my own life when things didn’t go the way I thought they should. Moments when I worked hard for something and still came up short.

Times when I watched others get what I had prayed for. If I’m honest, I could have easily thrown my hands up and said, “Life’s not fair,” and just accepted defeat.

But looking back, I realize that if I had done that, if I had given in to the idea that life is unfair and stopped trying, then I would have missed out on some of the greatest blessings God had waiting for me.

The truth is, yes, life isn’t always fair. But God is. And there’s a big difference.

The Bible never promises us a fair life, but it does promise us a faithful God. In Galatians 6:9, it says, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

That verse is a great go-to to help get through all the different seasons of life.

When things didn’t go my way, when I faced rejection, or when I was treated unfairly, it has reminded me that giving up would mean giving away the victory God was preparing for me.

We live in a world that isn’t perfect. People will disappoint us, circumstances will discourage us, and life won’t always make sense.

But if we let “life’s not fair” be the reason we stop fighting, we rob ourselves of seeing God’s goodness in action.

So the next time you find yourself tempted to settle into that mindset, remember: life may not always be fair, but God’s plan is always just, always good, and always worth trusting.

Keep fighting, keep praying, and keep believing, because you never know how close you are to your breakthrough.
