West Central School Board Recognizes

Outgoing Member Sarah Bigger; Swears In New Board of Education

Sarah Bigger, West Central School Board member since 2017, stepped down from the board Wednesday, April 30th and was thanked for her dedication and service to the community the past 8 years and given a plaque by the board for serving School District 235.

She voiced her appreciation for the “fun and sometimes not so fun” times on the board and for the help of all the board members in this responsibility.

West Central School Board President Brendan Schaley, conducted the meeting and asked for approval of the canvass vote of the April 1st school board election which was unanimously approved.

Newly elected official was Michael Lenahan replaced the seat of Bigger, and three incumbents re-elected were Brendan Schaley, Dillan Vancil, and Mindy Clark who all ran unopposed.

Schaley was elected as President Pro Tem and the meeting was adjourned and the special re-organizational meeting was called to order.

The newly seated board of Lauren Chockley, Josh Higgins, Karl Gullberg, Brendan Schaley, Dillan Vancil, Mindy Clark and Mike Lenahan, read together the oath of office.

The election of board officers were approved by roll call vote as follows: Brendan Schaley, President, Karl Gullberg, Vice President, Mindy Clark, Secretary, and Board recording secretary Jamie Schult.

Meeting dates, times and places were approved as in their folders but not disclosed publicly. Discussion of Board Sub-committees was led by Dillan Vancil and names tentatively put on committees with final approval at the next regular board meeting May 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the WC elementary cafeteria.

The board adjourned to go into closed session to discuss Personnel and Superintendent evaluation.

Besides the board, present at the special meeting was Jason Kirby, Kathy Lafary, Emily Schaley, Jamie Schultz, and Supt. Stacey Day.

Sarah Bigger stepped down after serving the West Central School Board for 8 years.
