The Oquawka Village Board held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, March 4th. Present were Trustees Don Rice, Brock Miller, Tammy Bundy, Troy Jern; Acting Village President Scott Ray; Village attorney Andy Youngquist; Village Clerk Callie Thacker; and Village Water Clerk Carey Thacker. Trustee Shawn Hurt was absent.
Village President Scott Ray noted Tee Construction LLC had completed the installation of underground pipe for the Oquawka Pool’s forced main sewer.
Ray said he had spoken with electrician Steve Lumbeck earlier in the day to let him know they are ready for him to get the electrical ran to the pump.
Ray went on to say the contractor still has not installed the chlorine alarm in the chlorine treatment building and asked Steve if he would look in to doing that while he was there.
Ray also stated he had spoken with Jones Septic today, as well, to let them know the Village is ready for them to install the pool’s septic tanks and drain field at the horseshoe pits.
All these things are required to comply with EPA regulations regarding the new well that will be drilled near the Oquawka Pool property and have the pool remain open.
Board members discussed getting a credit card from the Midwest Bank of Oquawka to use in emergencies such as if the police car needs fuel after hours.
It was noted the card would be used very little and Callie would pay the balance in full after each use. A motion was made by Bundy to get a credit card with a $5000 limit.
All members voted yes. Ray stated the Village has been offered $2800 by ATA Core for the Chevy Impala squad car. The car has multiple issues that will require more money to fix than the car is worth.
ATA is also interested in an old gravel spreader that has been sitting for years. Motion by Jern to sell personal property. Second by Bundy.
Rice: NO Miller: YES Bundy: YES Jern: YES Ray: YES... Motion carried.
It was decided City Wide Yard Sales will be the weekend of May 3rd and City Wide Clean Up day will be May 10th.
The board voted to enter in to closed session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees.
Upon entering open meeting after the closed session, Ray stated no decisions had been made during the closed session and no action would be taken at this time.
