Water Superintendent Tim Graves reported West Central FS, at the east edge of L Harpe, had ask to have either a 2” or 3” water line installed out to their plant. FS is currently on the city water and has a 1” line out to their facility.
They would like the bigger line to fill tanks so they can have an adequate water supply to haul water to their crop sprayers.
Graves noted they supply could use approximately 40,000 to 50,000 gallon per day.
Dave Clover asked if the water plant could handle the extra amount of water. Graves didn’t see it as a problem.
Graves explained the city now uses approximately 85,000 gallon per day and the RO plant plant could produce up to 300,000 gallon if needed. Graves noted West Central FS would be paying for the cost of the whole line to their plant.
Graves noted there are still 3 houses with water supply lines leading into their homes and hoped to get them put in when weather allows. Graves noted a licensed plumber will have to install them.
Graves also stated he was getting a quote for the coin mechanism for the water plant so farmers could buy water in town if needed.
City Attorney Chris Scholz stated an initial letter has been sent to the owner of the nursing home building. Once the letter has been delivered the owner has 30 days to respond. Dave Clover noted he is wanting to be able to legally clean up trash around the area.
Randy Shumaker noted after talking to the property owners on 1st Avenue that were interested in a new sidewalk that another option was to tear out the sidewalk, backfill, level the area out and just re-seed the area with grass. The property owners decided that would suit them better so city employees are going to remove the sidewalk and get it reseeded this spring.
Council discussed hiring an Ordinance Enforcement Officer. It was discussed changing some ordinances and fines. Council tabled the issue until the next meeting.
Council also unanimously approved:

Council re-entered regular meeting at 9:24 p.m. No action was taken after executive session.
