On Tuesday, June 3rd, the Village of Stronghurst Board heard from Adam Fox of Benton & Associates the test well location was marked out on the Ricky Grafton farm.
He proceeded to tell the board that Brotcke Well & Pump had been delayed on their last job and were planning to begin the test well on Thursday, June 5th, weather permitting.
The well should be ready by the end of the following week and then they would need to wait on lab results, which could take up to a month. Assuming the lab results are good, it would then become a production well and the village could haul the water from there as opposed to purchasing water.
Fox also stated the village has a water violation from the EPA on water quantity, which is to be expected. They have been given 180 days to have another source of water, which the test well will do. Fox stated, “The water situation is worse than what the violation is”.
The engineers will now work on the actual route to run the pipes into Stronghurst and if needed get the required easements, etc. They will also be working with the railroad for a permit.
Ronnie Gittings reported they had hauled 9 loads of water and was pleased with how much easier it is to have their own equipment for hauling. He is asking everyone to continue to converse as much as possible and check for any leaks they might have.
He stated if the usage were to stay in the mid 70s it would not be necessary to haul so much. They are hauling from Oquawka and Ronnie had nothing but praise for the gentlemen there that he said were doing a great job and very helpful.
Police report included: 33 hours worked, 80 miles on squad car, 6 service calls, and 6 business checks.
Arbry Vancil said the oil was changed in the squad car and they are needing some new tires
