The January 15th West Central board meeting gave acknowledgments to the January Rise and Shine staff members.
Staff members were recognized by their colleagues for showcasing what it means to Rise and Shine each day to serve our students and community: Allison Harden, Kathy Lafary, Petie Parsons, Tracy Eastin, Lene Lox, Laura Lewis, Kim Thompson, EJ Santos, Karri Wallace, Amy Chandler, Bryan Taylor, Cindy Boyd, Tiffany Ouellette, Jenny Ford and Paige Torrance. West Central appreciates all these individuals do.
The meeting was called to order by President Schaley at 6:00 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria.
President Schaley then led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Henderson County Handicapped Children’s Trust, Charles Vaughn, TTEE, donated $3500 to our special education transportation fund.
Illinois State Scholars Kevin DeMent and Rozella Liggett were recognized.
A thank you was given to those who made the Henderson County Angel Tree a success! Our students and families greatly appreciate all the time, effort and work that goes into supporting that program.
Middle School ISBE Summative Designation Improvement, improving from Comprehensive to Commendable!
WCE 5th grade students, along with Ms. Lewis, organized the Food Drive this year. They collected 603 items this year. These donated items were given to FOCC, our local food pantry, to help support the families in need in our community.
The Early Childhood Program staff is appreciated for achieving the ExceleRate Illinois Gold Circle of Quality rating.
This accomplishment is a recognition of the elementary’s achievement and commitment to quality early learning.

Motion by Clark, seconded by Gullberg to approve the consent agenda including the following items:
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 18, 2024; Closed Session minutes of December 18, 2024; The payment of all bills; All activity accounts; The treasurer’s report for December 2024; The 2024-2025 District Seniority List for Certified and Support Personnel.
Motion carried.
The board reviewed and heard reports from the Building Principals K. Lafary, B. Kugler, and J. Kirby. District Athletic Director J. Zaiser and District Technology Coordinator J. Hennings.
The Vision 2030 Resolution as presented.
Motion carried.
Board members were asked to contact Superintendent Day or Board President Schaley with future agenda items.
Adjourned to closed meeting pursuant of the Illinois Open Meetings Act- 5ILCS 120/2 (2) (16) at 6:39 p.m. to discuss personnel and negotiations.
Motion by Chockley, seconded by Gullberg to return to open session at 9:12 p.m.
A motion to approve the hiring of Jordain Johnson as SIP Team Member was presented and carried.
The following board members were present: Clark, Chockley, Gullberg, Higgins, Schaley, and Vancil.
Board Member Bigger was absent. President Schaley declared a quorum present.
