Dallas City Council Supports Community Holiday Efforts and Addresses Local Issues

In a spirit of community giving, the Dallas City Council approved several donations to holiday programs and discussed ongoing municipal matters during its regular meeting on November 17.

The meeting, called to order by Mayor Kevin Six at 5:30 p.m., saw attendance from commissioners Carole McDowell, Peggy Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson. The council unanimously approved the minutes from the previous meeting on November 3.

Holiday Donations Highlight Community Support

A significant portion of the agenda focused on supporting local Christmas initiatives. Deana Ferrill presented upcoming holiday projects, requesting city contributions for “Christmas with Santa” events and the “Christmas for Kids” Toys for Tots drive.

The council approved a $1,000 donation for these programs, emphasizing support for local children during the holidays.

Additionally, the council donated $400 to the LaMoine Valley A.B.A.T.E. Project Santa, a program known for aiding families in need through fundraising and toy distribution. Past donations were referenced, underscoring the city’s ongoing commitment.

A separate $1,000 donation was approved for the Dallas City Food Pantry, providing further assistance to residents facing food insecurity.
