Dallas City Council Tackles Community Concerns and Approves Land Bank Partnership

(From the minutes taken by Steven K. Vorhies, Village Clerk)

On July 21, the Dallas City Council convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m., presided over by Mayor Kevin Six.

Commissioners Carole McDowell, Peggy Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson were in attendance, along with community members Anne Thompson, Laurey Wibbell, Michelle Gold, Keith Durand, and Victoria Livingston.

The council began by approving the minutes from the July 7 meeting, with a correction to an address noted in a prior discussion about a tree removal at 374 West Fourth Street (previously recorded as West Third Street). The motion to accept the corrected minutes passed unanimously.

Community concerns were a focal point of the meeting. Laurey Wibbell raised issues about overgrown grass and weeds around town, as well as a problem with stray cats from a nearby residence.

Mayor Six acknowledged prior discussions on the cat issue and committed to further review, with the police chief to be informed of both matters.
