Dallas City Seeks to Purchase Old High School

Dallas City board members want to buy the Dallas City High School building. At their March 17th council meeting members discussed applying for a grant to tear it down if the city is successful in purchasing the property.

After executive session it appears that the only chance the city has to get a grant to tear the building down is if the city owns the property. It was approved to give the city attorneys Josie Finch and Mariah Wallace authority to negotiate with the current owner of the old high school property and to offer a maximum amount of $6,000 for the property. (As of today April 8th, no progress has been made by the attorneys).

Anne Thompson asked about the new messaging system. The city clerk reported that there appears to be something that Access Systems needs to do before the system can be operating. He is going to check with the company to see if there is any way to go ahead and get the system going and then making the update when Access Systems has been able to solve the issue.
