Stronghurst Fall Festival Welcomes Autumn

Saturday September 21st was a grand day here in Stronghurst as we welcomed in the third season of the year! Fall is officially here, gardens are winding down, crops are beginning to be harvested and we will get ready to tidy up before Ole Man Winter sets in.

Saturday’s weather (during the Stronghurst Fall Festival) was a little unpredictable, but what is new about that, right?

While the morning was sunny & beautiful the clouds did roll in and we had some light rain which we desperately needed.

The Lions Biscuit n Gravy breakfast was delicious and happily delivered to the park for those of us who could not make it to the Legion. Vendors readied their wares, inflatables were set up, Norm began his famous barrel train rides, antique tractors were displayed, yard sales opened up and those beautiful cars began rolling into town (around 75 in all)! Decorated straw bales adorned the streets. To end of the day, The Henderson County Havoc Races began at 5:30 p.m. What a wonderful start to the season!!! It was fun to see people in the park shopping, chatting with friends, enjoying lunch and admiring all those cars and tractors. The children seemed to enjoy all the activities as well.

The Stronghurst Booster Club truly appreciates all those who came out to support our event. We are very blessed to be a part of this great community. Speaking of blessed and our community I just want to say that without all the many businesses, organizations and volunteers, including our youth, these endeavors would not be possible. The Village of Stronghurst, The Lions Club, Jeff and Brent for their love of cars, Mike for arranging the tractor display, Henderson County Fair Association, Durand Septic Services, Jim Blender, Norm Menzenberg, MST Fire Department, The Quill, Bob’s TV, Fisher’s Food Center, Deliver The Party, Smithfield, the Whitemans, all the vendors who set up in the park, and last but certainly not least the Booster Club, their families, and especially my family. It really does take a village!

While fall has just begun it will all too soon give way to Winter. Not sure about you, but I dread the early nightfall.

The Booster Club’s next event will be our annual Holiday Walk to be held on Friday November 22 from 5-7 p.m. We invite you to join us for the sights and sounds of Christmas! Broadway Street will be decorated, area businesses will offer a variety of finger foods, horse drawn wagon rides, music, friends and more! We hope to see you there!
