The deadline for the Stronghurst Alumni Association volunteer sign-up is September 22nd and it seemed likely no one was going to step up and volunteer to head the next event in three years.
But, Ellen (Gittings) May, class of 1969, has stepped up to head the next banquet to save the association and continue the reunions, at least for 2027.
Donna (Keever) Schaley, class of 1966 has volunteered to assist Ellen and others are being sought after, Ellen said, to help form a committee.
It's a lot of work for one or two people as they keep track of each alumni, their whereabout, addresses and phone numbers, the reservations and money. etc..
If you can give a helping hand, please volunteer to help form a committeee for the 2027 banquet by calling Ellen at (217) 449-3747, or notify Sally (Jacob) Fisher at (309) 337-9061 or Candy Duncan at (309) 221.6936.
Many who gathered this year at the 2024 reunion remarked how much they enjoyed coming together and especially the special recognition that was given of veterans.
It is hoped a record crowd can be in attendance for the 2027 banquet, as a special "thank you" to Ellen May, Donna Schaley, and those who will step up to help on the committee to insure another gathering of SHS school mates will occur.
