In the monthly meeting of the Village of Biggsville, held on October 2nd, it was decided there will be a wiener roast from 5 to 6 p.m. on Halloween, October 31st in front of the new offices at 203 E. Main St., (old bank). The office will be open and hot chocolate will be served inside. Trick or Treat will then be from 6 to 8 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Eric Craig, at 6 p.m. leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes, invoices, and treasurer report, with one error was accepted.
During the street/water report, Mike reported a new blower was needed at the lagoon and he is getting quotes for one.
The public was asked, in order to keep the water/sewer prices at the rate it is, to please “Not Flush Disposable Wipes”. A new pump costs over $9,000 and flushable wipes have caused the blower to go bad.
Mike and Zach have tested the valves, and there is 13 that do not work.
Jamie made a motion to purchase two closed signs from the County Highway Department for the bridge,
Chris 2nd, motion carried. They will also get six more concrete blocks to make sure the closing is secure. New dirt has been purchased for Lindo Field and this fall they will have someone finish the teardown of the old shelter at the ballpark.
In other new business, they will be looking into putting in a handicap restroom at the Community Building. They will contact a plumber in Roseville who has experience in working with the state.
Eric read a letter from Ameren stating they must have a new contract with them in 2025. They will contact us with further instructions.
Chris made a motion to purchase a file cabinet for the office, Jamie 2nd, and motion passed.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
