Honor Flight

U.S. Marine Veteran Terry Avery of Gladstone with his son U.S. Marine Veteran Scott Avery of near Peoria, point out Terry's cousin's name, (Milford "Don" Isaacson) on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall when they traveled to Washington D.C. on Sept. 12th on the Great River Honor Flight.

Don grew up in Stronghurst, was a 1962 Stronghurst High School graduate who was drafted into the U.S. Army.

During his service in the Vietnam War, Army First Lieutenant Isaacson experienced a traumatic event which ultimately resulted in loss of life on January 24, 1970. The recorded circumstances: Died through hostile action.. explosive device. Incident location: South Vietnam, Quang Tin province.

Isaacson is buried in the Biggsville Cemetery. The Honor Flight was a very emotional and meaninful trip for the Averys.
