Stronghurst Board Approves Insurance

Diana Doran of Doran Insurance & Services, Inc. was present at the Village of Stronghurst board meeting held November 4th to go over the proposed insurance renewal for next year. The total building and contents limit was set at $6,055,875, which is an increase of $2,350,249 from last year. The trustees voted unanimously to accept the insurance at a cost of $21,450.

Ronnie Gittings reported they had 30 new water meters to install, with one broken shut off. He also stated the septic tank out front had been disconnected and sealed off. He also reported the well level was at 35 feet, 40 foot is the maximum.

Mayor Brendan Schaley had checked with the company regarding the new water tower inspection that was agreed to in the beginning. Since new employees has been hired, it has been overlooked and is set to be done in 2025.

Guest comments included:

• David Knutstrom: Regarding vehicle and clutter on sidewalks making it impossible to walk on them.
• Randy Jarvis: Request for sidewalk to be installed from his house south to the corner. Also inquired why Stronghurst was not painted on the other side of the new water tower. This will be looked into.
• Dillan Vancil: Progress is being made at the former Rivals site and he is hopeful the building can be put up by the end of the month.

In other business the board:

• passed the October minutes
• approved payment of all bills
• heard the lighted Christmas parade is December 6th
• heard from Attorney Mariah Wallace that the Antiquity can be demolished if the village desires to, but they will need to post bids. Following a discussion it was decided to look into the situation further.  
• heard from Janice Smith regarding vehicles parking on 94 making it impossible to see around them to pull out. Also remarked there are street lights out in the village that needs repaired.

The next board meeting will be Monday, December 2nd at 6:00 p.m.
