Final Doc Pogue Run–Lots of Fun!

What a beautiful day to honor a great man. We didn't realize we were making memories, we thought we were having fun!

The 10th and final Doc Pogue Memorial Run took place on Saturday, May 25, 2024 with 52 runners in various costume, as we know Doc liked to have fun, along with 30+ cheerleaders.

As the crowd gathered to start the race, chairwoman, Melinda Whiteman stood with 3 of the Pogue siblings, Luke, Silas and Annie and thanked our sponsors of Bronze, Silver, and Gold and gave a heartfelt Thank You to the family for sharing their Dad with our community.

Doc was a One of a Kind physician, friend, community supporter and most of all a family man. His absence continues to be felt by many. The boys also spoke of their appreciation to the Stronghurst Booster Club for the dedication to their Dad, In true Doc words and gestures, Silas exclaimed, “Lets Go! Lets Go Run!”

The first male runner to cross the finish line was Tim Magner who was closely followed by Tucker Corzatt. The first female was Bridget Brokaw.

They were awarded gift bags donated by OSF Holy Family Medical Center. Tim graciously gave his to Tucker who he said pushed him honorably.

After the runners/walkers completed the course, the kids lined up for a foot race. Fierce competition was observed. All were winners and received a medal for their efforts. Many participants enjoyed the Lions Club breakfast up town. Their support of this event also had become a tradition.

Although this was the final 5K, it will not be the last of events sponsored by the Stronghurst Booster Club in honoring of Doc. The spray park, which is utilized by many, is dedicated to Doc and will continue to need our support.

The committee of Melinda Whiteman, Mara Bessine and Sara Lefler truly appreciate the help of fellow Booster Club members, the Village of Stronghurst, and our community in supporting our 10 year en devour. It was a pleasure. And as Colleen Pogue stated “It was a Great Run” both today and in longevity in honoring Doc.
