Aunt Polly

Hello Dear Folks,

I hope you are busy preparing for Memorial Day. I put out Old Glory in front of my house, prepare food for a family picnic at a local park, cabin, or at a relative's so we can reminisce and remember loved ones who have passed on and all many gave up to serve in the U.S. military.

Our folks cut beautiful lilacs, irises and peonies and arranged them with tall ferns in glass jars. We'd add flags to a veteran's jar to honor the sacrifices they had made for America and offer up a prayer. We attended memorial services together and occasionally enjoyed a patriotic parade or concert. We played patriotic music and often sang Irving Berlin’s God Bless America made famous by Kate Smith. Now God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood stirs American hearts.

Enjoy your freedoms this Memorial holiday, but pause to remember the cost. See you in church, my friends!

God bless our Veterans!

-Love, Aunt Polly
