The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
The churches of Stronghurst are introducing a new service this year called “The Way of the Cross” on Good Friday, March 29th.
This service will be about following the footsteps of Jesus from the betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane to His burial in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
There will be five stops beginning at the Lutheran Church and concluding at the Christian Church.
At each stop a segment of the pathway of the journey of Christ to the Cross will be shared with scripture and a response from the audience. We will depart with a hymn. As the journey is underway, a volunteer from the crowd will carry the cross to the next designated spot.
Most participants will be on foot as we walk along together. However, we will be providing two trailers with hay bales to sit on for those who cannot walk but would like to participate.
All ages are welcome to participate.
We would ask everyone who does participate to treat the service with the utmost respect and reverence. If you must speak during the service we would ask that you speak about Jesus. And please as in all public places, silence your cell phones.
We will have the service rain or shine, but if the weather is stormy there may be a delay.
The service will begin after the annual Good Friday service concludes (12-1 p.m.) at the Lutheran Church and the cross walk will begin as soon as possible. (1:15 p.m.)
Please come and join in as we recognize the pathway our Savior took in redeeming us from our sins.
Have a Happy Easter weekend! May this service be a part of your special celebrations.
