Carla Ewing joined the Henderson County Health Department in January as the Administrator upon the retirement of Angela Myers.
Carla started her human services career as a Social Service Director in a long-term care facility, becoming a licensed administrator over 30 years ago.
Most of her career was spent in Mercer County, first as the administrator of the Mercer County Nursing Home, then most recently as the Administrator of the Mercer County Health Department.
During her tenure in Mercer County, she served on several state boards and task forces to improve the health and well-being of the seniors and community at large.
She was a member of a Mercer County community-based consortium that assessed the needs of community mental health. This consortium developed a proposal and was awarded a federal grant to create a mental health navigation program run through the Health Department.
After 25 years in Mercer County, Carla retired in December 2022.
Following a year of retirement, the opportunity to serve Henderson County as Administrator of the Health Department piqued her interest.
Carla states, “The community is what drew me to consider the position. I understand that the population of senior citizens is a big demographic, and I have always enjoyed improving the health of seniors.
Additionally, with all the experiences I’ve had related to social services and mental well-being, I knew I would enjoy being a part of the Health Department team as they serve the county.
I have very much appreciated the warm welcome I’ve received by the community and staff at the Health Department!”
Carla lives in Monmouth and enjoys time with her family and friends, traveling, cooking, kayaking, and serving at her church.
