La Harpe City Council Holds Short Meeting

from February 26th minutes of Village Clerk Lucretia McPeak

The regular scheduled monthly meeting was held at the La Harpe City Hall and was called to order at 7:00 pm.

Clover made the motion to appoint Alderman Shumaker as Mayor Pro Tem. Stevens seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

City Clerk McPeak had bills from Central Stone Company.

Public Comment: Megan Shipman approached the council with a request to use the City Park for a movie night beginning at the end of May, or the beginning of June, to be held on Tuesday nights until the 2nd week of August.

She will contact local businesses to sponsor this event.

Motions made and approved:

Hometown Insurance will no longer be taking in-person water bill payments.

The Water bills will need to be mailed, or put in the drop box located outside the Post Office.

Other business discussed:

The Easter Egg hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30th, at 10:00 am at the Club House.

There was discussion on chickens in town. The City won’t enforce the Ordinance, but if neighbors complain, they have to go.

There was discussion about taking the tree down from the bandstand in the City Park.

It will be on the next agenda to discuss and take action to have MBS Construction take down the bandstand in the City Park; and to discuss and take action on where to store the Pickleball equipment.

Stevens made the motion to adjourn the regular meeting. Donaldson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Answering roll call were: Dave Clover, Amanda Donaldson, Marvin Miller, Randy Shumaker, Todd Stevens, Jim Lenix, and City Clerk-Lucretia McPeak. Treasurer-Monalisa Graves and Mayor-Katherine Hasten-Reed were absent.

Also present were: Dan Gillett, Michael Rodeffer, Megan Shipman, and Lynn Hoyt.
