Hello Folks!

Did you hear? Marlene Knutstrom is turning "90" and she doesn't look a day over 70. I need to know what beauty cream she uses.

Her nice kids are having an open house for her at the Stronghurst Senior Center Saturday, Aug. 24th.

Well, I remember Marlene when she was a young girl living in Gladstone. She was always up for a good time and enjoyed playing with the neighborhood kids and it is just hard to think she is reaching N-I-N-E-T-Y!

They say 90 is like being 70 now-a-days with all the green tea, and green veggies, fresh fruits and vitamins, available and of course medicine has really improved.

You never use to hear about stents to prevent heart attacks, or cholestrol medicine, and patches and insulin pumps for diabetes, and pacemakers, and all kinds of transplants and knee and hip replacements. It's hard to tell what they will come up with in the next 25 years.

Of course air conditioning and air purifiers make things more comfortable and less stressful, and a lot of gadgets make our jobs safer and easier.

Our vehicles are a lot safer too. Many of the new cars can check to see if a car is coming and if clear, it pulls out and passes the car in front of you all by itself without you doing a thing. Sounds like my neighbor's tractor that drives itself.

Those little robots that clean your floors are handy too. They pick up the dust and dirt and then it returns to its station to empty out the debri and recharge while you sit out in your yard and sip tea. At the rate things are going, we will all be celebrating birthdays beyond 100 if we take advantage of the new inventions that researchers keep coming up with.

I traded my horse and wagon in for one of those Model A's in 1931 and every year automobiles got better, faster, and a whole lot safer.

Happy birthday Marlene! Have fun at your party and take your Geritol so you can blow out all your 90 candles!

P.S.Hope your wish comes true!
