On May 29 at 3:00 p.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial on Main Street, Stronghurst, taps was played by Veteran Jim Blender, Legion Commander of American Legion Post 765. The National Moment of Remembrance is an annual event that asks Americans to pause where they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, for a duration of one minute and remember those who have died in military service to the United States. Several families and individuals were there to honor the fallen. It is hoped that small children who attend will know that this is a special event and as they grow up, continue the tradition.
