A Farmers' Breakfast

by A. Lee Unger,For The Quill

The La Harpe Lions held their annual March Sausage & Pancake Breakfast this past Saturday and Sunday.

It was a joy seeing some of the newest members taking an active part in the fund-raiser. It was a lot of hard work, but there were also lots of fellowship!

Things change with time! For several years they had been getting their sausage from the local grocery store.

But it closed so a new supplier, Farmhouse Meats Co. of Carthage, and the results were pleasing. Most people liked the new sausage.

Another change this year was using purchased, frozen biscuits which were warmed up in the oven. Joe Gutting, our biscuit maker, was out of town this weekend! It worked, even though it will increase our costs!

But one of the most interesting differences was the weather. Several members thought it was either the coldest March breakfast or a least one of the coldest. The weather did

affect turnout some. We served 211 on Saturday and 167 Sunday.

We appreciate all the community support which allows our club to continue to serve our community.

What is the main purpose of Lions Club International?

To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

Here’s a look at some of the great benefits of being a Lion.

The La Harpe Lions Club members took time off last weekend to serve up a "Farmer's Breakfast", heaping lots of good food on plates of hungry early-risers on Saturday and Sunday mornings to benefit the community. Lions Breakfast -
