Tips from Aunt Polly

Good morning folks,

We have had snow, we have had rain, some clouds and sunshine and just when my daffodils are beginning to pop their heads through the ground, I am afraid a frost will hit.

But still, I feel we live in the best part of the world we can live in. The beautiful rainbow we saw a few weeks ago was a reminder of good things are promised for us if we keep our heads up and ducks in a row.

A friend from down St. Louis way said to me, "Sometimes ya get chickens, and sometimes you get feathers" and then he added "sometimes you get doo doo."

The way I was raised, your odds are better if you keep alert and keep ahead, keep working hard, but enjoy the moments of learning along the way.

Watching some young pro athletes find winning easy may get them prideful and I would say they might have a lot more to learn in life than those who have lost several games along the way. And that is, to keep your nose to the grind-stone, keep alert, be ready for the tough games, the stronger opponent, for you never know what might be thrown at you or where your next punch is coming from.

We always are wishing we have an easy life with lots of benefits but someone like that has a lot more to learn and may take a bad turn in the road a lot harder than those who have gone though a little doo doo along the way.

Ups and downs, highs and lows are all a part of life. It is where we learn the most and how we become strong. It's the losses that make the wins a lot sweeter. Take the Cubs for instance. Their World Series win moved all of America sport fans. They never gave up on having a better day, a better game which led them to that World Series win on that historic day November 2nd, 2016.

If you are going through tough times, put on your armor and fight your way through it. You will get stronger and wiser if you'll learn the lessons they can teach you:

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

And remember… “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” – Babe Ruth

Also, we can talk later at the next community supper.

-Love, Aunt Polly

P.S. Hope to see you and your family in church.
