Scattered rain and hail

Sunday, June 4th mid afternoon brought some welcoming rain and unwelcome hail to the area. Rain fall varied from one tenth to 2-1/2 inches. Dale Thomas reported 2-1/2 inches of rain 1 mile south and 1-1/2 mile west of Terre Haute. Thomas also reported marble size hail which shredded some of his fields and his neighbors fields.

Heavy hail was reported at the west edge of La Harpe to about 1 1/2 mile west and south of highway 9 and 94 about 1 1/2 mile to 2 miles being the heaviest. Several corn and soybeans fields were badly damaged.

Rain fall at the east edge of La Harpe was 1/10" or less while west of La Harpe had between 1" and 1 1/2 " of rain. Brad Link reported 9/10" of rain with heavy hail. Dan Spangler reported a good 1/2" of rain with a small amount of pea size hail. Jamie Deitrich reported 3/10" of rain and light hail and Duane Deitrich barely received 1/10 inch of rain.
