La Harpe Assistant Police Chief Rosson Resigns At Special Meeting

At the special meeting of the La Harpe City Council held on January 30th, at 6:00 p.m. the council was informed of a letter received on January 25th by Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed from assistant police chief Scott Rosson. The letter read:

“Dear Mayor and La Harpe City Council: This letter is my formal notification that I am resigning from my position as Assistant Police Chief of the

La Harpe Police Department. My last day will be January 31st, 2023. I would like to thank the Mayor, La Harpe City Council and former Police Chief Larry Finch. I would also like to thank the people of La Harpe for letting me serve their great community. It was truly an honor. -Scott Rosson.”

The council unanimously approved the resignation of Scott Rosson. Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed then appointed Lynn Hoyt as Interim Police Chief at a salary of $50,000 annually, with the unanimous approval of the council.

When speaking to Chief Hoyt, he said, "I will do what I can and keep doing the job the best I can." Hoyt has been working in the La Harpe police department six to seven years and still remains on the Bushnell police roster as a part time deputy.

The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m. Present at the special meeting were Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed, all council members, Kelly Harkey, Deanna Stambaugh, Randy Shumaker, Greg Wisslead, Jim Lenix and Dave Clover, city clerk Lucretia McPeak, police officer Lynn Hoyt and guests Dan Gillett and Michael Rodeffer.
