The La Harpe City Council members approved the loan terms for the 2018 Dodge truck they recently purchased. The loan, from Fortress Bank in La Harpe, interest rates will be 5.5% with council approving a 5 year monthly payment plan. This truck is the oldest model of three trucks the La Harpe Council has purchased recently.
Alderman Dave Clover informed the council that he had received two quotes for lettering on the three city trucks. Council approved the bid of $170 per truck from Outlaw Tees Custom T-Shirts-Signs and Designs out of Nauvoo to have the three trucks lettered totaling $510.00.
Council approved paying either annual or monthly cost for cameras at the burn pile and city park, depending on which would be more cost effective.
During the La Harpe City Council’s January 23rd meeting council member Randy Shumaker informed the council that Laverdiers had removed 1 of the high service pumps at the water plant and was rebuilding the base for the pump. Once the first base is rebuilt and the new pump is installed, Laverdiers will redo the 2nd pump and base. Tim Graves added that the new pump was installed and now sets on a solid pad which Graves thought would eliminate the vibration.
City water superintendent Tim Graves informed the council he would like to go to a conference for water operators on February 21st and 22nd in Effingham. The consensus of the council was to let Graves attend the conference.
Graves also let the council know that the hole by the Christian Church corner was dug out and there is a 24” tile approximately 10 feet down. He said there was a broken tile and he thought it could cost up to $3,000 to repair. He said he would try to get a closer estimate of the cost for the council by the next meeting in Feburary.
Graves added that the city needed to do a required water survey by April 15th. He said the survey will tell the type of water line from the main line to each meter pit, the type of water line from the meter to the house, and the type of water lines inside the house.
He said there are still 3 lead lines that need replaced in town which he is planning to have done.
Graves also informed the council there will be an all day seminar in Macomb on February 9th that both he and Dan Carpenter are planning to attend.
In other business, the council approved the minutes, the treasurer’s report and the paying of the bills.
The council members adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
