Aunt Polly

Hello folks,

The storms have been a cracking some pretty loud thunder and bringing rain in buckets full. Henrietta Hobbs said it has been raining cats and dogs as her little shed has collected a few extra strays she hadn't seen before.

Hopefully, the weather will not blow down anything on our homesteads except the cobwebs and the limbs off our roofs that we've been meaning to clean off.

I am sure hoping that Ethel Farkwad hasn't hung out any of her unmentionables on her clothesline again like she did last year.

On another note, I wanted to mention that it was nice to see so many good people wanting to help run the school board. Just when you think people don't want to serve any more, you find the younger generation have stepped up to make a difference.

One man said he was really too busy to get away from his business and his farming, but he had many grandchildren and he didn't want to look them in the eye and say he did nothing to help, when they ask the question, "What did you do, Grandpa?"

I guess that goes for the churches, and the town, and other organizations too.

Helping out a neighbor is a good thing to do, too.

My friend Henrietta finds one elderly widow or person who lives alone and makes it her job to do whatever she can, whenever she can. She makes it her mission.

Another friend is good with children she sees on the streets whose parents are gone a lot, or only have one parent.

Now, Ethel isn't very fond of too many kids around, but she likes to sew and she will make things for the nursing home, and sometimes she sits and visits people there.

With Good Friday coming this week, it reminds us that a lot can happen in a week.

First last Sunday everyone was celebrating Palm Sunday, the day Jesus rode in to Jerusalem on a donkey, a hero. And by Friday he was tried with some trumped-up charges of which they could find no guilt, and they whipped, beat, and then crucified Him.

It's the saddest thing, when someone who is trying to do good for the people, is treated so poorly.

It kind of reminds you of President Trump who tried to do so many good things for America and our freedom, and securing our borders, and look what they've done to him.

Easter Sunday's a whole better thing. Jesus could not be contained, even with guards at the tomb, but he rose from the dead. God is in control and He keeps his promises.

So do the right thing.

Come to Good Friday services. Come to church on Easter. Bring friends. Pray. Thank God we have freedom to gather. Pray for common sense to do what's right and not evil. See you in church.

Love, Aunt Polly

PS. Happy Easter
