At the September 12th La Harpe Council meeting, Randy Shumaker informed the council, Friday, October 14th, will be city wide cleanup day.

Water Superintendent Tim Graves informed the council the reservoir had been treated once in the spring for algae and needed to be treated again this fall. Graves said it would cost approximately $1,000 for the treatment. Council gave approval for Graves to purchase the chemicals needed to treat the reservoir.

Street Superintendent David Little informed the council that a concrete culvert on Archer Street just east of the old nursing home building was collapsing and would need a new culvert to fix it with. Little said the cost of the 15” culvert 30’ long would cost $572. Little noted it was the city’s responsibility. Council agreed to have Little order the new culvert.

Tim Graves informed the council that the boat motor needed repaired and had been quoted $300-$500 to fix it and wanted council’s approval to have it fixed. Council agreed to let Graves have the motor repaired.

Graves also informed the council of the tile hole behind the Christian Church would need repaired and Graves and the city crew planned on working on it this week.

Street employee Trevor Finch informed the council that they had started mowing several yards which were not in compliance with city ordinances.

Council member Deanna Stambaugh told the council she had been asked by a resident if a porta potty could be put in the park. Council discussed the issue and decided to look into the cost.

Council member Kelly Harkey informed the council she had talked to Shawn Stoneking about the demolition project and thought he would be starting at the end of September.

Council member Dave Clover asked Randy Shumaker if he could check on possible grants available for playground equipment.

Clover also commented that several residents were walking their dogs in the park and not picking up their excrements. Clover said he only knew of one lady who cleaned up after her dog.

Clover suggested writing tickets to anyone not cleaning up after their dog. Clover stated this was also a problem out on the golf course and around the ball diamonds where dogs are prohibited.
