By: Michael Rodeffer, The Quill

At the September 12th La Harpe Council meeting, the La Harpe Police Department acknowledged their appreciation for the Hancock County dispatchers who take all the emergency calls and relay information on to officers on duty. La Harpe Police Officer Scott Rossen noted these ladies and 1 gentleman do their job which involves taking care of us (officers) and helping to keep us safe.

Dispatchers include: Administrator Maria Hopp, and Megan Smith, Ashley Flynn, Michelle Gold, Kristopher Becker, Shelby Reneau, Magaliy Efpinoza, and Katie Markey.

Rossen handed out handbags with water bottles to the three dispatchers who were able to attend the meeting. Rossen said there are 8 dispatchers and all will receive the gifts. Rossen noted the water bottles had a saying printed on them which reads:

“The strength of the gold vine depends on great people like you who put the skill and dedication into everything they do.”

Rossen added, with the recent events that have happened this summer, it was important to acknowledge these important dispatchers.
