Biggsville Sets October 31st As Trick or Treat

At the regular meeting of the Village of Biggsville on October 5th it was announced the wiener roast will be October 31st from five (5) six (6) p.m. at Reid Park. Trick or treating will be from 6 to 7 p.m.. If you want to participate leave your porch light on.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Brian Sterett with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tammy made a motion to accept the invoices, minutes and treasurer report. Eric 2nd motion carried.

Streets/Water – There is a washout on Main Street. Mike has met with IDOT and they are checking the contract to see who is to fix it. .

Public Relations – The Fall for Biggsville committee has almost everything in order. The village will provide water. The band will be in front of the bank. Mike will bring more garbage cans to Main Street for the event.

Old Business – Mike reported it will cost approximately $2300.00 to purchase cement barriers to be used at the bridge and in the east end of town where it is washing away. They are to start the sidewalk in front of the senior housing on the 8th of October.

New Business – We have received the deed to the bank. Andrew Youngquest will record it. We have a large debt on the new water system. We have been informed that they will be raising the water the first of the year. Tammy made a motion to raise the water $2.00 to $45.00 a month in January. Eric 2nd motion carried. This will help to defer the cost. The sewer will remain the same at $35.00 a month.

Kathie made a motion to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. Nanci 2nd motion carried.

Members present were: Eric Craig, Kathie Curtiss, Tammy Slater and Nanci Sterett. Absent were Casey Goff and Becky Price. Others present were: Brian Sterett, Mayor; Judy Gravgaard, Clerk; Marilyn Simmons, Treasurer and Mike West, Maintenance.
