La Harpe City Council Meets

La Harpe City Council met on November 14th at 7 p.m.

Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Hasten-Reed announced that the council did not have a quorum so they could not vote on anything.

Council members, Greg Wisslead, Randy Shumaker and Kelley Harkey were present and council members Dave Clover, Brian Covert and Deanna Stambaugh were absent.

Also present was city clerk Lucretia McPeak, city employees Tim Graves, David Little, Daniel Carpenter, Scott Rossen, and city police chief Larry Finch and guests Dan Gillett and Michael Rodeffer.

Street employee David Little reported the leaf blower had broken and would need approximately $150 to repair it. Little said a new one could be bought for $175. Consensus of the council was to look into a new one.

Little also reported the backhoe had a couple leaky hydraulic hoses which would cost approximately $621. Little reported the snow plow had some brake issues and was at Midwest Express to be repaired.

City Police Officer Scott Rossen stated the police department needed an office chair. He also would like to see about getting the ESDA trailer, which has been stored in police garage for about 3 years, moved so the police department could have some more storage area.

City employee Daniel Carpenter reported the 3/4 ton truck had the snowplow on if needed.

City Clerk Lucretia McPeak informed the council the permit for the Christmas parade was already back.

Mayor Hasten-Reed informed the council she was working on setting up a conference call with the city attorney, IMEG Representative Jack Kusek, and IEPA Representative to try to resolve the IEPA violation.

Council adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
