Hello Folks!

Guess what? I don't want to eat turkey this Thanksgiving for dinner and Aunt Polly has invited me over for turkey dinner on that day.

I know you are suppose to be thankful for all things but chicken is a lot juicier than turkey and everyone knows that.

I am thankful for turkey and rice soup so I guess I am thankful for turkey – in soup.

I'm trying to think how I can bring something to eat instead of turkey without looking unthankful.

I am thinking about makiing a new recipe that has chicken in it and call it a new fancy side-dish like Martha Stewart suggests having.

I thought about bringing chicken and noodles and that wouldn't be noticed. I make noodles every year but I am going to add extra chicken to it this year. I am a little afraid everyone will eat my chicken and noodles and no one will eat Aunt Polly's turkey.

I know, that would be rude, but if I bring the chicken and noodles out last, after everything else has been served, they will have already taken her turkey. I am going to suggest passing the turkey first before I sit down. Aunt Polly makes really good rubarb custard pie though and I always want to leave room for dessert.

She has pumpkin pies too, but that's not as good as her custard pie.

I'm feeling a little uneasy about not eating turkey, but I know some people who won't eat lots of things, like sweet potatoes.

Now, who doesn't like sweet potatoes with all those marshmellows, brown sugar, and apples and pecans some cooks put on them. Yum.

Oh, come to think of it, I did hear a story about someone who didn't like turkey and thanksgiving ended in a disaster.

When my neighbor's husband was a kid, they traded off on hosting Thanksgivings between his mom and her sisters.

One year, they all showed up to his aunt’s house, and after an hour of appetizers and small talk, his dad commented that he couldn’t 'smell the turkey cooking.' That’s when the aunt revealed that they were having fondue for dinner. Because she doesn’t like turkey." No joke, every single person left, she told me.

That is why I think I am just going to keep my mouth shut and eat a little turkey! I sure wouldn't want to spoil the day. Would you? I can always put cranberries on it!

Good Day folks and Happy Thanksgiving!
