The La Harpe City Council called for a special emergency meeting on October 19th at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting was held to discuss and approve Shawn Stoneking to demolish the falling of a 4 story building located at 117 South Center Street.

The building had several bricks fall down onto South Center Street and was creating a dangerous hazard for pedestrians and vehicles driving by.

City Attorney Chris Scholz was able to get an emergency court order to have the building torn down.

The city has closed the block off to vehicles.

Council unanimously approved the bid of $30,000 to Shawn Stoneking to tear the building down and dispose of building material.

Present at this meeting was Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed, Council members, Dave Clover, Kelley Harkey, Greg Wisslead and Deanna Stambaugh and guest Dan Gillett.

Also on the agenda was interest payment in the amount of $34,405, which was to come out of the water plant construction fund.

Council unanimously approved the payment of the interest amount.
