Holly Wilde-Tillman, County Clerk, has announced her intent to run as an Independent Candidate for the November elections.
“I grew up in a home that was politically split, I never remember it being an issue,” explained Wilde-Tillman. “Maybe, I should credit my parents to keeping the peace in our home when it came to politics.”
As County Clerk Wilde-Tillman hopes to instill that same peace she found growing up in her home to the election process. “I want you to have that same feeling in all elections and I do not want politics to cloud the outcome,” added Wilde-Tillman. “I want to ensure the process is done accurately, fairly, and that you have faith in my abilities,” said Wilde-Tillman
When Holly came into the County Clerk’s office, she faced a situation that looked insurmountable. With the help of staff and many courthouse employees, the office had a fair and respectable election in a year where there were many concerns.
“I want your memories of me in office to be represented by a fair, honest and peace keeping elected official.” Said Wilde-Tillman
During her time as County Clerk and Recorder, Wilde-Tillman has increased security in elections.
“I have increased security in Elections with the help of State Board of Elections. With all the threats in cybersecurity I think you can never do enough to protect your Election process
The position not only revolves around elections, but as the Recorder she maintains land, vital and county records. Wilde-Tillman works closely with taxing bodies through the tax extension process.
Wilde-Tillman is also proud to offer online services for researching land records and obtaining vital records to residents or to those who have moved from our county and need immediate assistance. She hopes to provide more services to aide residents in obtaining information. I have offered Property Fraud Alert which alerts residents if documents are filed against their name when they sign up for a text or email,” explained Holly.
“I want to provide services that help Hancock County residents and maintain the integrity of our records,” said Wilde-Tillman. “I want to be available to answer questions and help our residents with issues that may arise. My door is always open, and I encourage individuals to never hesitate to ask questions because when you ask, I learn too.”
Holly wants every constituent to feel like she is their County Clerk and Recorder.
“With that being said, I have decided to run as an Independent candidate,” Holly explained.
What does this mean? She will not be on the ballot for the June 28 primary election. Wilde-Tillman plans to begin circulating petitions starting April 13 to be on the ballot for the General Election on November 8. Whereas the signature requirement for an established party is between 10-30 signatures, which has been reduced by one-third with a shortened window due to the census delay, Holly will need the required 474 signatures for an Independent to be on the ballot.
“I think my effort shows my commitment to being an unbiased candidate in Hancock County and representing all constituents fairly,” Wilde-Tillman said.
Wilde-Tillman and her husband, Tim, are lifelong residents of Hancock County. Together, they have a blended family of 7 children.
